Spellings and also now a piece of Maths homework will be sent home for practice on a Friday. Please support your child with their practice whilst encouraging them to remember their spellings as independently as possible. Why not dictate a sentence containing their words to them once they feel confident? Please also continue to help correct any work they complete at home so that they are noticing frequent errors and learning how to correct them.

Phonics Screening Check June 2027
The Year 1 phonics screening check is not a formal test, but a way for teachers to ensure that children are making sufficient progress with their phonics skills to read words and that they are on track to become fluent readers who can enjoy reading for pleasure and for learning.
